OpenAI calls for an AI alliance that brings together the US and allies, including countries in the Middle East

The current management of the OpenAI startup is clearly haunted by the idea of using the resources of some Gulf countries to finance the development of the global artificial intelligence infrastructure. The new OpenAI initiative involves creating an alliance with the participation of US political allies, including countries in the Middle East.

On Wednesday, as reported by the South China Morning Post, OpenAI executives called for the formation of a “North American AI Agreement” that would facilitate international access to the human, financial and commodity resources required to build the infrastructure of artificial intelligence systems. Ultimately, the agreement should unite allies and partners around the United States, including countries in the Middle East.

The strategic initiative was presented by OpenAI at an event in Washington. In addition to proposals for maintaining the US’s leading position in the field of artificial intelligence, the document proposes methods for solving the problem of energy supply to specialized data centers. According to OpenAI, the US authorities should provide support for costly infrastructure projects in the energy sector by providing government guarantees for the purchase of electricity from the generating capacities being created. Projects should be subject to a favorable regulatory regime, including decisions to commission nuclear reactors, the operation of which was previously suspended. It is proposed to use the experience of the US Navy in creating compact nuclear reactors for submarines for peaceful purposes.

OpenAI said in a statement: “AI represents an opportunity to re-industrialize the United States that cannot be missed and will help spark economy-wide growth that can revitalize the American Dream.” In addition, the OpenAI initiative aims to ensure US national security and protect the country and its allies from the growing influence of China through the spread of “AI shaped by democratic values.” The plan for the development of the national AI industry has been agreed upon by both the current administration of US President Biden and representatives of the recently elected Donald Trump. OpenAI representatives expect that this agenda will receive priority in the work of the new US Congress and government.
