Onyx presented a tiny e-reader Boox Palma 2 the size of a smartphone, as well as large-format readers Note Air4 C and Note Max

Onyx introduced three new devices for reading e-books with electronic ink screens: the compact but fast Boox Palma 2 model, as well as the Note Air4 C equipped with a large color display and the even larger Note Max.

The main advantage of the new Boox Palma 2, like the first generation device, is its compact screen – 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1200 with a resolution of 300 dpi. The device received a “faster eight-core processor,” the model of which the manufacturer did not specify, which is complemented by 6 GB of RAM, and the built-in storage capacity is 128 GB. The software platform is Google Android 13 – not the latest version of the system, but it will not lose its relevance for many years.

A useful innovation was the appearance of a fingerprint scanner – it is built into the power button and allows you to quickly unlock the device with one hand, simplifying its security mechanism. On the back panel there is a 16-megapixel camera with a flash, which, as the manufacturer noted, is useful for digitizing documents. The Onyx Boox Palma 2 is available in Ivory White and Deep Cyan Black for $279.99.

Along with a compact e-reader, the company introduced two devices convenient for taking notes. The Boox Note Air4 C boasts a 10.3-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 color display with a higher refresh rate – together with an eight-core processor, the device is 50% faster than its predecessor. The tablet runs Google Android 13 and has a price tag of $499.99.

The third new product was the black and white Boox Note Max tablet with a large 13.3-inch E Ink Carta 1300 screen and an eight-core 2.8 GHz processor. The thickness of the device is only 4.6 mm, which is almost half that of the Boox Palma 2. The cost of the tablet has not yet been specified, and unlike the previous two, it will be available for pre-order only in a few weeks.
