The OnePlus Watch 3 was first announced in February. For $329, the device offered a compelling feature set, an upgraded tech platform, up to 120 hours of battery life, and a more robust health suite. Sales of the watch were supposed to begin a few weeks ago, but were delayed due to a “Meda in China” typo on the bottom of the case. OnePlus offered free returns for those who got their hands on the device and pushed back the release date.

Now the OnePlus Watch 3 (hopefully with a corrected inscription) is back on sale on the company’s online store for $500. When asked about the abrupt price change, the company said it “has no further comment to share at this time.”

The new $500 price is a more than 50% increase over the previous retail price of $329 and more than 65% over the $299 price with a $30 discount for pre-orders.

The most obvious explanation is the new import duties imposed by the US administration. While the new tariffs have been suspended for 90 days for most countries, China is not affected by the moratorium. Note that prices for other OnePlus devices in the US have not yet changed.
