Nvidia has released the GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 572.65 update for the GeForce Game Ready 572.60 WHQL driver. Version 572.60 of the driver was intended to solve the black screen issues that many Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card owners were experiencing. However, as it turns out, the driver did not eliminate all sources of black screen issues, and the latest update is aimed at solving another one.

Black screens have become more common among GeForce RTX graphics card owners since the release of the first driver with support for the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Nvidia’s recent driver update, which was intended to fix the issue, failed to do so. The company has identified another possible cause for the black screen – this time it’s related to the DisplayPort interface.
The GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 572.65 update is recommended to be installed only by those users who have experienced problems with a black screen, especially after installing the GeForce Game Ready 572.60 WHQL driver. This hotfix is aimed at eliminating the error that causes a black screen to appear after installing the driver and rebooting the PC. Judging by the messages on the Nvidia forum, this is one of the most common scenarios for the problem.
If the black screen does not bother you or you do not use DisplayPort to connect the monitor, you can skip installing the update and wait for the next full version of the driver.
