NVIDIA promised to investigate incidents with failure of the GEFORCE RTX 50 video cards

This year, NVIDIA released a new generation of GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, which conquered new horizons of performance, but brought new problems – their number apparently reached a certain critical mass, and NVIDIA promised to conduct an investigation.

The problem is complicated by the fact that the symptoms of the failures reported by users differ, and they appear with different models of video cards: many complaints from the owners of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 have received – it is most often reported that video cards refuse to display the image or work altogether. NVIDIA confirmed the PC Gamer resource that the company is now “investigating problems with the RTX 50 series, which were reported.” In some cases, the video cards began to show a black screen when changing the resolution or renewal frequency, in others – the image disappeared at a large load, and thirdly the problem was associated with the connection of several monitors to the PC.

Some users report that when the computer is rebooted, the problem does not disappear: the video card stops displaying in the device dispatcher or in BIOS; In others, the reboot helps, but after some time the video card again stops working. Third problems arise when switching windows using a combination of Alt + Tab keys; In the fourth, the video card continues to work stably even during acceleration. For example, PC Gamer journalists managed to achieve stable operation of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition after accelerating the graphic processor by 525 MHz, and video memory per 1000 MHz. At the same time, the numerous complaints of the owners of the novelties overwhelm the NVIDIA website and the Reddit community pages, and the authors of the reviews on YouTube also report them – in some cases, the video cards remain faulty, in others the problem can be solved.

According to one version, the problem is related to the NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready 572.16 WhQL drivers. This hypothesis is confirmed by the fact that the last update began to receive complaints from the owners of the video cards of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series. In cases where the problem is really related to the drivers, it can be solved by the complete removal of the package using DDU (Display Driver UninStaller) with the next reinstallation. She could arise due to a conflict with some residual data of previous drivers. But in some cases, the problem may occur due to the features of the PCIe 5.0 signal processing-this standard is supported by new graphics cards, but the malfunctions in some cases disappear when the tire is forced to transfer to the PCIe 4.0 mode.
