Nvidia has stopped producing gaming video cards – GeForce RTX is now focused on AI

Nvidia has added the slogan “Powering Advanced AI” to promotional materials related to GeForce RTX gaming graphics cards. The phrase has appeared on product pages and graphics card packaging at retailers.

Many retailers have already updated the branding images for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards – the icon is usually displayed next to the first product photo, which shows the graphics cards and their packaging. Some video card manufacturers who are Nvidia’s partners also updated their websites, although this only affected the latest products. The vast majority of pages of earlier models still retain the original logo without any mention of AI.

Nvidia did not say why they decided to take this step, but the company has repeatedly emphasized that it is a leader in the field of AI accelerators, even when it comes to consumer graphics cards – they actually accelerate the work of AI algorithms much more efficiently than the built-in NPU (Neural Processing Unit) in central processors. NPUs have more modest performance and have limited access to system memory. Perhaps Nvidia has not yet fully built a new marketing model, and the new generation of video cards will be even more focused on AI.
