Nvidia Cuts GeForce RTX 5000 Prices in Europe, But Graphics Cards Don’t Get More Affordable

Prices for GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards have started to fall in Europe amid the strengthening of the euro against the dollar, VideoCardz reports. The recommended price of the latest generation of Nvidia graphics cards has fallen by 4% on average.

As VideoCardz writes, in Germany the recommended (MSRP) prices for GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards are currently as follows:

  • GeForce RTX 5090 — €2229 (was €2329, -4.3%);
  • GeForce RTX 5080 — €1119 (was €1119, -4.3%);
  • GeForce RTX 5070 Ti – €879 (price unchanged);
  • GeForce RTX 5070 — €619 (was €649, -4.6%).

The dollar exchange rate against the euro fell by approximately 3.9%, which affected the recommended prices of video cards.

Unfortunately, although Nvidia has officially reduced the prices of its graphics cards, this does not mean that they have become more affordable. It is almost impossible to buy them at such a price in a store, unless we are talking about the reference versions of the Founders Edition. As the source notes, Nvidia has not increased the supply of RTX 50-series graphics cards, so there are still copies from the first batches on the shelves. According to one of VideoCardz’s sources, the graphics cards are “rotting on the shelves” of European stores, since no one is buying them due to the excessively high cost.

Change in the dollar to euro exchange rate

Thus, the decrease in prices for Nvidia cards is not due to an increase in the supply of cards or a decrease in demand, but simply reflects the changed exchange rate.
