Nvidia has confirmed that some GeForce RTX 5080 graphics cards also had defective GPUs with missing rasterization units (ROPs). Initially, the manufacturer acknowledged this issue only in the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5090D, and RTX 5070 Ti models. However, reports of defective RTX 5080s have since begun to surface.

«”As part of our further investigation, we have determined that an early production batch of RTX 5080 GPUs are also affected by the same issue. GPU owners experiencing this issue should contact their GPU manufacturer for a replacement,” Ben Berraondo, global PR director for Nvidia GeForce, told The Verge.
According to him, “no other Nvidia graphics card models were affected.” He specified that he was talking about the RTX 5070, which has not yet been released for sale. The Nvidia representative added that more recent batches of older graphics card models also do not have this problem. “The manufacturing anomaly has been resolved,” Berraondo said.
According to an Nvidia spokesperson, the company was unaware of the defects until the cards were released. This raises questions about the effectiveness of Nvidia’s quality control, as GPUs are tested for defects at least twice: after they are manufactured and after they are installed on the cards.
