Nintendo has announced a proprietary charger designed for Joy-Con controllers for the Switch console – it will go on sale on October 17. This accessory would, of course, have been more appropriate seven years ago, when the Switch came out, because over the years, third-party manufacturers have managed to offer similar solutions.
Unlike most wireless controllers, which can be charged using a USB Type-C cable, Nintendo’s Joy-Con controllers, as well as the nostalgic wireless NES and Famicom, can only be charged when connected to the Switch. A separate charger will simplify this task for those who have more than one pair of Joy-Con – even if the successor to the current console is due to be presented in early 2025.
The Nintendo Joy-Con Charging Stand (Two-Way) allows you to charge two controllers at the same time – to do this, connect the device to the adapter from the Switch docking station or any other. It comes with a stand, but you don’t have to use it – the charger will work on a horizontal surface. The price of the charger has not been disclosed, and it has so far been announced only for buyers in Europe and Japan.
