In the latest Windows 11 build for Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel, Microsoft closed access to the bypassnro script, which previously allowed the system to be installed without logging into a Microsoft account. Enthusiasts have already suggested a way to restore access to the script through the registry editor. Now another workaround has been found, applicable to Home and Pro editions, which does not require editing the registry.

Microsoft emphasizes that the removal of the bypassnro script is not an accident or a mistake. “We are removing the bypassnro.cmd script to improve the security and usability of Windows 11. This change ensures that all users complete the installation with an internet connection and a Microsoft account,” the company said in a blog post.
Resourceful Windows Insiders have come up with a new workaround for Windows 11 Home and Pro editions. Witherornot1337 posted instructions and a video of the process of bypassing the Microsoft account requirement on the X social network.

To create a local account, you need to open the command line using the “Shift and F10” key combination when installing the system at the country selection stage, and enter the command “start ms-cxh:localonly” (without quotes) in the window that appears. Then enter the data for the local account in the normal mode and continue installing the OS.
This method is simple and convenient, especially for users who find it difficult to edit the registry. In addition, it does not require restarting the Windows installation. The only question is how long it will take Microsoft to close this loophole.
In current stable versions of Windows 11, including the 24H2 update, the bypassnro script is still available. The restrictions only apply to the Windows Insider test build on the Dev Channel, where Microsoft tests less stable features, many of which never make it to the final versions of the system. However, in the case of bypassnro removal, you shouldn’t count on it. The script will probably disappear from public versions of Windows 11 with the release of the 25H2 update this fall.
