Naughty Dog’s next game will take gamers into the distant future – Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been announced with music by Trent Reznor

Sony-owned Californian studio Naughty Dog unveiled its next big game at The Game Awards 2024—contrary to expectations, it wasn’t The Last of Us Part III.

The project is a development of new intellectual property and is called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The announcement was accompanied by a four-minute cinematic trailer.

The events of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will unfold in the distant future. Players will take on the role of bounty hunter Jordan. The heroine is stuck on the remote planet Sempiria, which lost contact with the rest of the universe hundreds of years ago.

«”Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to become the first person to escape [Sempiria’s] orbit in 600 years,” reads the description of the announcement trailer.

Development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is led by Naughty Dog co-director and The Last of Us Part II director Neil Druckmann. The game has been in production since 2020 and is scheduled for release on PS5.

According to Druckmann, the game will offer the “boldest and most creative” story along with the “deepest gameplay” in Naughty Dog’s history. The soundtrack is provided by the duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is positioned as a new franchise for PS5. Naughty Dog won’t share any additional details at this time, but has confirmed that actress Tati Gabrielle is playing Jordan.
