Billionaire Elon Musk announced via his X social media page that xAI’s AI chatbot Grok will soon receive an update — Grok 3.5. It is currently in beta testing and is not available to the general public. However, SuperGrok subscribers will get early access to it next week.

One of the key features of the upcoming update, the release date of which has not yet been officially confirmed, will be Grok 3.5’s ability to provide unique answers to technical questions. In particular, Musk noted the ability of the new version of Grok to handle complex scientific and technical topics, such as electrochemistry and rocket engines, with a certain degree of accuracy.
Grok 3.5 will differ from other chatbots in the way it generates responses to questions posed to it. While many AI chatbots scan the web for data and assemble responses based on information from external sources, Grok 3.5 will “create responses from scratch” using a “reasoning” model. This means that the responses it generates can potentially be unique and not borrowed from existing material on the web.
A somewhat similar approach is implemented in the DeepSeek R1 AI model, which also uses a reasoning engine. This provides a more dynamic experience for interacting with the chatbot, reduces the risk of plagiarism in answers, and allows it to answer more complex questions. However, the “reasoning AI” technology comes at a price — it requires significantly more computing resources. This is likely why xAI is looking for additional ways to expand its computing power and is looking to raise tens of billions of dollars for this purpose.
