Musk aims to compete with YouTube: the X TV application has been released for smart TV for watching videos and broadcasts

The X TV client has appeared in application stores for smart TVs, designed to watch videos from Elon Musk’s social network on large screens, the businessman said. The new hybrid platform features both videos and live broadcasts.

The X TV app is currently available as a beta version on Google Play, LG App Store and Amazon App Store. It is noteworthy that it appeared on the Amazon platform at the end of July, while LG released it only on August 29. The app’s description on Google Play says it’s a “trusted global digital town square for everyone who watches TV.”

It is noted that the application does not open service pages with terms of service and privacy, which is excusable for a beta version. The terms of service themselves should be similar to the conditions on the main X platform. The application is integrated with the social network, so after installation on the TV you will need to log in to your X account.

For now, all materials on X TV are free, but the platform administration promises exclusive content, live broadcasts and news. Additional features include Replay TV with the ability to store up to 72 hours of content; Startover TV to watch live broadcasts from the beginning; as well as Free Cloud DVR with the ability to record up to 100 hours of video for free.
