An MSI representative officially confirmed in a conversation with Tom’s Hardware that the company does not plan to release Radeon graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 architecture. Over the course of several generations of graphics cards, the manufacturer has gradually reduced its interest in the “red” team’s solutions.

As part of the Radeon RX 5000 series of graphics cards, the company released 39 custom and reference models. For the Radeon RX 6000 (RDNA 2), the manufacturer retained the same variety of available models. However, with the advent of the RDNA 3 graphics architecture, MSI presented only four models of graphics cards.
Moreover, the company did not even develop new cooling systems for the Radeon RX 7000, but only adapted solutions originally created for the RX 6000 cards. The Taiwanese manufacturer said in an interview with the German portal HardwareLuxx back in 2024 that its focus was shifting towards GeForce RTX video cards from Nvidia. Nevertheless, the company continues to cooperate with AMD in the production of motherboards. Now MSI has confirmed that it is not going to produce Radeon RX 9000 video cards at all.
«”In response to your question, MSI will not be producing AMD graphics cards of this generation,” an MSI representative said in response to Tom’s Hardware’s inquiry.
It should be added that MSI is also not interested in Intel’s current Arc Battlemage generation of graphics cards. The company previously released several models of the previous Arc Alchemist series of cards, but they were mainly supplied to system integrators and were not available in retail. Thus, we can say that MSI has become an exclusive partner of Nvidia.
MSI does not explain its decision. Tom’s Hardware suggested that it could be due to the fact that Nvidia graphics cards account for the majority of the gaming graphics accelerator market. It is also possible that MSI has decided to take the place of Nvidia’s exclusive premium partner, which was vacated by EVGA’s exit from the graphics card market in 2022. Whether MSI plans to return to AMD graphics cards in the future is unknown.
