Mozilla has unveiled an update to Firefox for Windows, macOS, and Linux, a release that is particularly significant for users. The big news is the introduction of a built-in profile manager, which makes it easy to separate browser data by usage scenarios, such as work, school, or personal life. Now, each profile will have its own bookmarks, browsing history, and cache in Firefox 138.

This feature has been missing from Firefox for years, while Chrome and other browsers based on it have long used profile separation as one of their key benefits. Mozilla previously tried to partially solve the problem with the Containers feature, and third-party developers offered extensions that mimic profiles. But none of them could offer the same simplicity and functionality that is now available out of the box in Firefox 138, PCWorld reports.

In addition to profiles, the update brought interface improvements for Windows users. In particular, controls and windows are now better integrated with the design of the operating system. The ability to group tabs and a weather forecast in the address bar has also been added. The remaining changes are traditionally devoted to fixing errors and eliminating vulnerabilities.

To make sure you are using the latest version of Firefox, simply click on the three-bar icon at the top right of the browser and go to the Help menu, then select About Firefox. If the update has not been downloaded yet, simply restart the browser and the process (after permission to install) will start automatically. You can also manually download Firefox 138 from the official website for Windows, macOS or Linux.
