Motorola unveils flagship Razr 60 Ultra flip phone and cheaper Razr 60 version — both with dust protection

Motorola has unveiled its next generation of 2025 foldable smartphones, the Razr 60 Ultra and Razr 60. These are the manufacturer’s first foldable devices with dust protection, something few devices of this form factor can boast. The Ultra model offers significant improvements over its predecessor. In turn, the base Razr 60 is still focused on affordability for the buyer.

Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has an updated display, an improved battery, an updated set of cameras, and flagship performance. The device has IP48 protection (from large dust and water particles) and has become slightly thicker than its predecessor (7.2 mm when open and 15.7 mm when closed – versus 7.1 / 15.3 mm for the Razr 50 Ultra). The weight of the new product has increased by 10 grams (199 g versus 189 g). The battery capacity of the Razr 60 Ultra has increased by 700 mAh and is now 4700 mAh. The smartphone supports fast wired charging with a power of 68 W and wireless charging with 30 W (the predecessor had 45 W and 15 W, respectively).

The external display has retained its previous diagonal of 4 inches. This is an energy-efficient LTPO P-OLED matrix with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, support for 10-bit color, 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and Gorilla Glass Ceramic protection. The peak brightness of the external screen has increased from 2400 to 3000 cd/m². Resolution is 1272 × 1080 pixels.

The main display has a 7-inch diagonal and an aspect ratio of 22:9. It supports a higher resolution of 2912 × 1224 pixels compared to its predecessor (Full HD+), due to which the pixel density has increased to 464 PPI (versus 413 PPI in the Razr 50 Ultra). It is based on an LTPO OLED matrix with a refresh rate of 165 Hz, support for 10-bit color and 120 percent DCI-P3 coverage. The peak brightness of the screen has also increased from 3000 to 4000 cd/m².

The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor (two Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores with a frequency of 4.32 GHz, six Oryon V2 Phoenix M cores with a frequency of 3.53 GHz, and an Adreno 830 GPU). The smartphone offers 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. A version with 1 TB of storage will be available in some regions, and can be purchased exclusively through the Motorola.com website. The device runs on the Android 15 operating system.

Last year’s Razr 50 Ultra used a 2x telephoto camera instead of a wide-angle one. This year, the company changed the configuration, combining the main 50MP camera (f/1.8 optics, 1.0 µm pixels) with a 50MP wide-angle UW module (122° viewing angle, f/2.0 optics, 0.6 µm pixels), which also functions as a macro camera. The main module is equipped with PDAF and OIS systems, and is Pantone Validated Color and Skin Tones certified. The camera is capable of shooting video in 8K resolution at 30 fps and 4K at 60 fps.


The 4-inch external screen is great as a viewfinder for selfies, but there’s also a 50MP front camera (f/2.0 optics, 0.64 µm pixels) inside that supports 4K video recording at 30/60 fps.

The Razr 60 Ultra supports Android’s digital car key feature, which works with select BMW and Mini models via NFC and UWB. Another new feature is Dolby Vision support for both playback and recording. The smartphone’s stereo speakers support Dolby Atmos. The device will be available in four Pantone colors: Rio Red, Scarab, Mountain Trail, and Cabaret.

The Motorola Razr 60 offers more subtle improvements while maintaining its status as an affordable foldable smartphone. However, like the Ultra model, the base version has IP48 protection, meaning the device is protected from dust and can withstand immersion in water up to 1.5 meters deep.

The smartphone is equipped with a 3.6-inch external OLED display with a resolution of 1056 × 1066 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, support for 10-bit color, HDR10+, a peak brightness of 1700 cd/m² and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The diagonal of the internal screen is 6.9 inches. It is based on a P-OLED matrix with a resolution of 2640 × 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and support for HDR10+.

The Motorola Razr 60 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor (four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, with a Mali-G615 MP2 GPU), which is a minor upgrade over the Dimensity 7300X found in last year’s model. However, the company claims a 15 percent increase in AI performance. Users can choose between 8, 12, or 16 GB of RAM. Storage options range from 128 to 512 GB. There will be 1 TB versions available in select regions.

The Razr 60’s battery capacity has increased by 300 mAh compared to the Razr 50, now reaching 4,500 mAh. Like its predecessor, the smartphone supports 30 W wired charging and 15 W wireless charging. It is also said to use an improved hinge.

The Razr 60’s camera setup includes a 50MP main module with optical stabilization (f/1.7 optics, 0.8 μm pixels) and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f/2.2 optics, 120° viewing angle, 1.12 μm pixels) with macro support. The main camera supports 4K video recording at 30 fps. The selfie camera, located in the inner display, has a resolution of 32 MP and also supports 4K@30 fps video recording.

Pre-orders for both phones in the US will begin on May 7. Unlocked models will go on sale on May 15. The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra will start at $1,300, while the base Razr 60 will start at $700. Pre-orders in Canada will also open on May 7. Shipments of the base model will begin on May 15, while the Ultra will start on June 3. In the UK, the Razr 60 Ultra in the 16/512GB configuration will cost £1,100.
