Moto Edge 50 introduced – the thinnest smartphone with protection against drops, temperature shocks and salt fog

The Motorola Edge series of smartphones has been replenished with a new device. The developers officially presented the Edge 50 mid-price device, which is equipped with a high-quality display, as well as a capacious battery with support for fast charging.

Motorola Edge 50 received from the developers a 6.67-inch OLED display with support for a resolution of 2712 × 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. A panel with an aspect ratio of 20:9, a pixel density of 446 PPI and a peak brightness of 1900 cd/m² is used. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the screen area. The Edge 50 is the thinnest smartphone on the market at 7.79mm and is IP68 and MIL 810H certified (military standard for extreme environmental protection).

There’s a punch-hole at the top of the screen that houses the 32-megapixel front-facing camera, which supports 4K video at 30fps and 1080p video at up to 120fps. The triple main camera is based on a 1/1.56-inch Sony LYT-700C 50 MP (f/1.8) sensor with support for optical stabilization. It is complemented by a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with support for 3x optical zoom and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with a viewing angle of 120°.

The Edge 50 is powered by an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 microprocessor (one Cortex-A710 core with a frequency of up to 2.4 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores with a frequency of up to 2.36 GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores with a frequency of up to 1. 8 GHz). The Adreno 644 accelerator is responsible for processing graphics. Buyers will be able to choose between two versions of the device: with 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB drive or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM.

Edge 50 is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery with support for fast wired charging up to 68 W and wireless charging up to 15 W. A USB Type-C connector is provided to connect the charger. Wireless connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e and Bluetooth 5.2 modules.

The smartphone runs Android 14 with Hello UI. Buyers will be able to choose between different body color options. As for the cost, the retail price of the Edge 50 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM will be about $335.
