Microsoft will begin widely distributing Windows 11 24H2 in October

As expected, Microsoft will begin distributing the stable version of the Windows 11 24H2 operating system in October this year, and a preview version of the update will be released next week. A message about this appeared in the Microsoft Tech Community blog section dedicated to the Copilot AI assistant.

«”Windows 11 feature updates will roll out annually to PCs, starting with an optional non-security preview on September 24, 2024, and ending with a monthly security update on October 8 for all supported versions of Windows 11,” Microsoft said in a statement.

To be clear, this is a new version of Copilot that includes support for the Enterprise Data Protection security tool, which is intended to be installed on PCs running Windows 11 Enterprise, not all devices running compatible versions of the OS. However, the message does mention that the release of the new version of Copilot coincides with the launch of the Windows 11 24H2 update, intended for installation on compatible consumer devices.

Thus, users will be able to manually install the Windows 11 24H2 update on their PCs starting September 24, and from October 8 it will be delivered to compatible devices automatically. For owners of Copilot Plus PC laptops with the latest AMD and Intel processors, this update means new AI-powered features. Otherwise, Windows 11 24H2 will not bring any noticeable improvements or important features.
