Microsoft Updates Copilot AI Assistant Interface for Windows

Microsoft has begun testing a new version of the Copilot app for Windows 11, which opens access to the software giant’s proprietary AI assistant. The app’s user interface now better matches Window 11, and is built using the XAML markup language. There’s a sidebar with chat history, native context menus and buttons, and other elements that should improve the user experience with Copilot.

It should be noted that a couple of months ago, Microsoft announced the launch of a new version of Copilot for the Windows operating system. However, it turned out that the developers replaced the PWA version of the product with an application with WebView2, i.e., in fact, it was the same web version of the AI assistant. Now, Microsoft has released a full-fledged native Copilot application, which starts faster, works smoother and looks better.

The good news is that the update has not lost any of the previously available features. You can still interact with Copilot via text chat. The history of user chats is saved in the sidebar, so you can continue working with the algorithm at any time. To start a new chat, just click the corresponding button.

The new Copilot app supports several settings, including automatically starting when Windows boots and enabling/disabling the ALT+Space key combination for quick access to the AI assistant. All of these options were also present in the previous version of the app. The new Copilot app for Windows is currently available to Windows Insiders on all channels. The updated app version is 1.25023.106.0.
