Microsoft’s Surface family of devices has joined the list of electronics that have become more expensive. According to online sources, the software giant has increased the price of most Surface Laptop and Surface Pro available at retail by about 20%. The cost of the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop and 13-inch Surface Pro tablet now starts at $1,200, while previously they cost from $1,000.

The prices of the new Surface products introduced this week have not changed. The price increase affected not only laptops and tablets. The same applies to, for example, chargers. For example, the 65-watt Surface power supply has increased in price from $90 to $120, and the 127-watt one has increased from $125 to $175. It is noted that Microsoft’s retail partners, such as Best Buy and Amazon, have not yet increased prices for Surface devices. This means that consumers who planned to buy a Surface device should hurry before they become more expensive.

The Surface price hike follows last week’s Xbox price hike, which saw the software giant increase the retail price of the Xbox Series S by $80 and the Xbox Series X by $100. The price hikes are likely a result of the Trump administration’s tariff policies, although Microsoft officials have yet to comment on the matter.
