Microsoft made the Incognito mode in Chrome for Windows more private, but did not tell anyone

Typically, Microsoft tries to convince users to refuse to use the Chrome browser and switch to Edge. However, this time, the software giant unexpectedly increased the attractiveness of the Google web browser. The fact is that now in Windows 11 and Windows 10 there is no longer the history of the exchange buffer when viewing web pages in the “incognito” mode of the Chrome browser.

This is not entirely news, since Microsoft made these changes a few months ago without unnecessary noise. On the Google side, the corresponding adjustments were made in the second half of last year. However, before the companies did not mention this innovation.

By default, Chromium has a mechanism for storing the history of the Boofer of the Exchange. In Windows, the copied contents of Chromium are synchronized with a cloud bureau of exchange, access to which can be obtained using a combination of Win + V keys. However, such synchronization can pose a threat to confidentiality, especially in the Incognito mode. This mode is designed to ensure a higher level of privacy, and the synchronization of the Chrome exchange buffer with the cloud windows buffer did not contribute to this at all.

The developers of Microsoft decided to correct the situation by making changes that block the synchronization of the exchange buffer when copying data in the Incognito mode. After one of the planned OS updates, this change was extended to user PCs.
