Microsoft is preparing compact versions of Surface Pro and Surface Laptop on the Snapdragon X chip

Microsoft plans to release smaller versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop with screens around 11-12 inches. The new devices will be lighter and more compact, aimed at users who value portability. The announcement is expected to take place in the coming weeks.

As Windows Central magazine reports, the younger version of the Surface Pro will compete with the 11-inch iPad Pro and will have a high refresh rate display, stylus support and a detachable keyboard. The compact Surface Laptop will likely replace the Surface Laptop Go and will have a backlit keyboard, a high-resolution touchscreen, and a metal body.

Both devices will be equipped with Snapdragon X chips, which will allow you to set a price in the range of $ 800–900, maintaining a balance between performance and battery life. Presumably, sales will begin in April or May.

Microsoft also prepares Intel versions of Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 with 5G support, but they will be available only for corporate customers.

At the moment, the company is focused on updating the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop line, which have already been updated three times over the past 12 months. In the future, it is planned to issue Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8 based on the new Snapdragon X2.
