Copilot is back on PCs shortly after Microsoft accidentally removed it from some Windows 11 devices. The software giant updated its support page to say that affected devices are being “returned to their original state,” ending what some may have seen as a brief respite from Microsoft’s AI assistant.

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced a bug that caused the Copilot AI assistant to be automatically removed from the taskbar on some Windows 11 users. The post said that this was happening after installing a service pack that began rolling out on March 11. While the developers worked to create a patch, users who wanted to continue interacting with Copilot were asked to manually reinstall the AI assistant from the Microsoft Store and pin a shortcut to the taskbar.

Earlier this month, Microsoft began distributing Copilot as a standalone app for Windows. The AI assistant received a refreshed user interface. In addition, the app now features the ability to start a quick voice chat with Copilot by holding down Alt+Space.
