Microsoft fixed problems with headphones and webcams that caused a recent Windows 11 update

Microsoft has released an additional cumulative update KB5050094 for Windows 11 24H2, which belongs to the category of “optional preliminary updates that are not related to safety.” Such updates come out at the end of each month so that users can test bug corrections, improvements and new functions that will be officially launched with Patch Tuesday output next month.

According to BleepingComputer, the new update contains 28 corrections of vulnerabilities and changes, including bugs that cause problems with sound reproduction in systems with USB-audio drivers. The KB5050094 update eliminates some problems that arose after the Windows safety renewal for January 2025, which disappeared in an audio device connected through an external DAC with USB.

Also, the USB-audio device driver’s error, which led to the appearance of the Code 10 error and the message “This device cannot start” when connecting to certain external sound control devices.

The installation of the update corrects the problem of recognizing the included USB camera that arose after the January update of the OS, as well as the blocking of storage updates, errors when connecting Windows 11 to the workstations and malfunctions of the Snipping Tool application when using two or more monitors with a different scaling of the screen. In addition, the preliminary viewing function was improved when pointing the cursor on the applications on the taskbar and the interface animation was optimized.

After installing this preliminary update, the Windows 11 24H2 system will be updated before assembly 26100.3037.
