Microsoft and Openai will remain partners until 2030

Microsoft announced a new stage in cooperation with Openai. Among other things, the IT giant press service mentioned interaction as part of the Stargate project. According to Microsoft, the partnership that developed since 2019 has passed into a new phase. It is possible that the company’s public statement is a response to a wave of rumors that appeared after a change in the policy of using Openai cloud resources. Many are literally sure that Redmond loses his grip and misses Openai from the sphere of its influence.

Perhaps that is why the company itself is in a hurry to report that if earlier the partnership agreement on the use of clouds was exclusive and Openai could only use Microsoft resources (in one case Oracle with reservations), now it will be able to resort to the help of third -party cloud providers more often. Microsoft will remain the right of “first refusal” and at first Openai should still apply for cloud resources to it, and only in case of their inaccessibility-to other providers.

At the same time, Microsoft emphasizes that Openai recently again pledged to use Azure on an even larger scale to support its products and teach models. The company also recalls that the key elements of the partnership agreement will not change until the end of the contract in 2030. Hyperskerler will maintain access to the intellectual property of Openai, an exchange of revenue is supposed in accordance with existing agreements and the exclusive rights of Microsoft to the API of the AI-Startapa will remain.

In particular, Microsoft retains the right to use Openai intellectual property, including II models, in products like Copilot. API Openai will be exclusively used in the Azure cloud and are available through Azure Openai Service. The agreement means that customers will access the most advanced models on the Microsoft platform directly from Openai. And the company’s revenue will be exchanged in double -sided, it will be in the hands of both due to the growth of the use of new and existing models.

Finally, Microsoft emphasized that she remains the chief Openai investor, providing the company with means and cloud resources to support development-one of the key benefits of Microsoft itself is the progressive increase in the cost of AI-Startap. Now Openai is involved in the multibillion-dollar American and Stargate and SoftBank (in addition to Microsoft), so it will certainly need additional resources.
