LG will help Samsung create a “true AI smartphone” from scratch – it’ll be released in 2025 and you won’t be able to buy it

LG shut down its smartphone division in 2021, but that doesn’t mean the company is no longer involved in the market. The electronics maker owns telecom operator LG Uplus, which has one of the largest mobile networks in South Korea, and also develops technologies based on artificial intelligence. According to the source, LG’s new AI assistant will be integrated into a Samsung smartphone next year.

Earlier this month, LG Uplus released an AI assistant called ixi-O in South Korea. Now it has become known that the company wants this algorithm to become part of the software of a completely new smartphone that Samsung is apparently developing. It is expected that the smartphone, which may be called Galaxy ixi-O, will be released in the home market in 2025.

The report says that Samsung and LG have entered into a deal that will create a “true AI smartphone.” Samsung will create a smartphone exclusively for LG Uplus and it will combine the manufacturer’s AI technologies with the new ixi-O assistant from LG Uplus. It is assumed that the device will be created from scratch by Samsung engineers, who will be able to effectively optimize the smartphone for LG’s new AI assistant.

The name of the upcoming smartphone is unknown, but the media has already dubbed it Galaxy ixi-O, indicating that the device may be sold under the Galaxy brand on the LG Uplus network. Although this device remains exclusive to South Korea and the LG Uplus network, it is possible that Samsung could implement similar projects with other operators who decide to follow the same strategy of introducing their own AI assistants.
