Lenovo is expected to unveil two new portable consoles at CES 2025 – Legion Go 2 and Legion Go S. At least one of these consoles will likely run the SteamOS operating system.

The Verge portal reports that representatives of the publication were invited to a presentation called “Lenovo Legion x AMD: The Future of Gaming Handhelds,” which will take place in early January. A special guest is expected at this event – one of the key developers of the Valve Steam Deck portable console, Pierre-Loup Griffais. His participation hints at the announcement of the first third-party console based on SteamOS. Currently, only Valve’s Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED consoles officially run this operating system.
Legion Go 2
The expected Legion Go 2 console will be the direct successor to the first generation Legion Go console. If you believe the leaks, the new product will receive removable joysticks, an 8.8-inch display, as well as an 8-core and 16-thread Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor based on Zen 5 architecture with integrated Radeon 890M graphics based on 16 RDNA 3.5 execution units.
However, the Legion Go S model will stand out more. It is the one that is expected to receive the SteamOS operating system. This is hinted at by leaked images of both consoles. Legion Go S has a button to launch the Steam application store in its controls.
From the same Legion Go 2, the Legion Go S model will also differ in its monolithic design and a more compact 8-inch display. It is assumed that the Legion Go S will also be powered by a processor from the Ryzen Z2 series with Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 architectures.

No less curious is that leaks suggest the announcement of a third console – a white version of Legion Go S (8ARP1). It will differ from the black version of Legion Go S by the Windows 11 operating system and the Ryzen Z2 Go processor with Zen 3+ and RDNA 3 architectures.
We will find out very soon how accurate these forecasts and leaks will be.
