Lenovo has unveiled the world’s first laptop with a expandable screen that you can buy – ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable for $3,499

At the annual CES 2025 exhibition taking place these days in Las Vegas, Lenovo presented several interesting new products. One of them was the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, which became the world’s first mass-produced laptop with an upward-expanding screen and support for advanced technologies based on artificial intelligence.

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is a logical continuation of the concept laptop with a screen that extends upward, which Lenovo first showed in 2023. When folded, the laptop offers a 14-inch display, but if necessary, it can expand upwards, increasing the screen diagonal to 16.7 inches.

You can open the screen completely by pressing a special key or using the appropriate gesture on the laptop camera. This approach gives almost 50% additional screen real estate. Despite the ability to significantly increase the screen size, the laptop is made in a 19.9 mm thick case and weighs only 1.7 kg.

The laptop is designed to provide increased levels of versatility, combining the portability of a traditional device with the ability to provide the expanded workspace found in larger models. ThinkBook’s signature Workspace feature improves the usability of the extended display by providing access to split-screen tools and dedicated widgets for quick access to frequently used apps. The unusual vertical orientation of the laptop, according to the manufacturer, helps improve posture and reduce stress during long-term work.

The developers equipped the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable with an OLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 400 cd/m². The panel provides 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.

The new Lenovo laptop belongs to the Copilot+PC class of devices. It will be available in a variety of configurations with Intel Core Ultra processors, which deliver high levels of performance for AI-powered tasks while maintaining energy efficiency. An integrated Intel Arc accelerator is provided for graphics processing. The device will come with different amounts of RAM and internal storage. The design also includes a Wi-Fi 7 wireless module and a Thunderbolt 4 interface.

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable laptop will go on sale in the first quarter of 2025. Its retail price will start at $3,499.
