Microsoft will present the compact 2-in-1 Surface Pro 12 tablet with an updated design based on the Snapdragon X Plus processor the day after tomorrow. This is a thin (7.8 mm) and stylish hybrid with improved ergonomics, battery life and stylus support. The device is significantly different from its predecessors, WinFuture notes. The announcement of the Surface Pro 12 will take place simultaneously with the release of the 13″ Surface Laptop.

The main highlight of the new product is the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 processor. This is an eight-core Arm chip with a clock frequency of up to 3.4 GHz and a built-in NPU for accelerating AI tasks. The model will be available in configurations with 16 GB of RAM and a 256 or 512 GB drive. According to Microsoft, the device’s battery life reaches 16 hours when playing video.
The tablet uses a 12″ PixelSense Flow Panel display. The exact refresh rate is not disclosed. The device supports Surface Pen and Surface Pen Slim styluses. The body is made of metal, and the rear panel retains an adjustable stand with an angle of up to 165 °.
The changes also affected the ports: Surface Pro 12 has two USB-C (USB 3.2) ports, but lacks a separate audio output. To connect wired headphones, you will have to use an adapter. In addition, the company, following the trend, will not include a charger in the kit, because any power supply with USB Power Delivery support (from 27 W) will do.
The new Surface Pro will be available in purple, blue and gray. Keyboards for it are sold separately and match the color scheme of the tablet. As for the price, it is not yet known whether the new product will be more affordable than the previous Arm versions. Microsoft hints at a price reduction, but will only reveal the exact figures at the presentation.
