While fans are waiting for a full presentation of the third DLC for the retrofuturistic shooter Atomic Heart, the developers from the Mundfish studio were preparing something completely different for them – the announcement of a film adaptation of the game.
The Kinopoisk company undertook to adapt Atomic Heart, and Plus Studio (Yandex production center) is responsible for production. Work on the project is under the creative control of Mundfish.
The film adaptation will tell an independent story, which will be based not only on Atomic Heart, but also on a book about the background of enterprise No. 3826. The script is written by Roman Kantor, known for the film “The Master and Margarita” and the TV series “Epidemic”.
«The action will be directly related to the game and its characters, but some elements will receive development and elaboration that is unexpected for fans. We will see events from different points of view, sometimes changing our understanding of what is happening,” Kantor assured.
«Kinopoisk does not specify the format of the film adaptation, and the press release from Plus Studio mentions that we are talking about a series. Production is already underway, but filming will not begin until 2025.
There is very little illustrative material for the adaptation of Atomic Heart at the moment: only a selection of four concept art (see gallery above) and a “teaser poster” from Kinopoisk (see video below).
Let us remind you that the events of Atomic Heart unfold in an alternative Soviet Union, where in 1955, due to a failure in the “Collective” neural network at enterprise No. 3826, robot assistants turn against their creators.
