Kingston and G.Skill boasted record overclocking of DDR5 memory – above 12,000 MT/s with CUDIMM modules

Several RAM manufacturers have reported overclocking DDR5 memory modules to record speeds above 12,000 MT/s. The latest CUDIMMs were used in combination with motherboards with Intel Z890 chipset and Core Ultra 200S processors.

Kingston has reported overclocking its Fury Renegade DDR5 CUDIMM memory to 12,108 MT/s, which is the highest result in history at the moment. The record was set by overclocker Kovan Yang, who achieved an effective frequency of 6053.7 MHz (12,108 MT/s) on the MSI MEG Z890 UNIFY-X motherboard.

According to HWBOT, the components were cooled using liquid nitrogen. The memory “started up” with timings CL45-120-120-127-2 in combination with a Core Ultra 7 265KF processor, which had energy-efficient E-cores disabled. On large P-cores, the chip operated at 400 MHz.

The G.Skill company, in turn, reported slightly more modest memory overclocking results – 12,042 and 12,046 and 12,066 MT/s. Overclocking was carried out by overclockers BenchMarc, OGS, Dreadzone and CENS. The experiment was conducted using the Asus ROG Maximus Z890 Apex motherboard and Core Ultra 9 285K processor. Liquid nitrogen was also used for cooling. In DDR5-12066 mode, the memory worked with timings CL52-92-92-127-2.
