The international holding Freedom Holding Corp. has begun construction of one of the key objects of Kazakhstan’s digital infrastructure — the Freedom Cloud data center. The owner and main shareholder of Freedom Holding Corp. Timur Turlov announced this on his Telegram channel.
The official ceremony to launch the construction of Freedom Cloud took place on April 18 in the special economic zone “Park of Innovative Technologies” (SEZ PIT “Alatau”). The data center, which will be located on an area of 2.5 hectares, will become an alternative transit point for data transmission between Europe and China through the territory of Kazakhstan. According to Timur Turlov, the holding cooperates with NVIDIA, Intel and AWS. Freedom Holding already has seven data centers in Kazakhstan, acquired in 2024.
Freedom Holding plans to complete the construction of the site in two years. The first phase of construction will cost ₸40 billion, the second — ₸35 billion. The total amount of all investments in the project, including the purchase of equipment and deployment of computing power, will be ₸175 billion. The data center will accommodate 480 racks with a capacity of up to 15 kW each, with the possibility of increasing to 25 kW. The useful IT capacity will be 7.2 MW, the total capacity — 13 MW, including cooling and backup power systems.
