Kawasaki unveiled a real iron horse – a motorcycle with legs instead of wheels that jumps over ravines

Japanese company Kawasaki presented a new type of personal transport — literally an iron horse CORLEO. Instead of wheels, the “motorcycle” received four legs on flexible suspensions. Everything about it resembles riding a horse — a saddle, foot control in stirrups, and the style of movement.

A live demonstration of CORLEO is planned for EXPO 2025 in Osaka later next week. All that’s available today is a computer animation of the device. According to Kawasaki, CORLEO will be valuable to those who enjoy “riding.” It can be used to literally become one with the movement, galloping across meadows and rough terrain, and conquering steep slopes, mountains, and ravines and crevices.

CORLEO power drives are electric. Energy is generated by a 150 cm³ hydrogen engine. Controlled by artificial intelligence, the “iron horse” always maintains the balance of the saddle and the rider, protecting him during abrupt movements. Hooves covered with rubber and plastic at the ends of the vehicle’s limbs will provide better grip on the surface in a wide range of conditions.

CORLEO can be controlled by either the steering wheel or the stirrups, or by changing your body position in the saddle. The instrument panel will highlight the route ahead with markers, and will also help when moving in the dark.
