The example of BMW car users accessing seat heating only through a paid subscription has already become a textbook example, but other automakers periodically try to outdo the Bavarian competitor. In particular, owners of Stellantis products are faced with the need to close pop-up advertisements on the on-board information system display during each stop.

As TechStory notes, Jeep owners have discovered that at every traffic light, the display of the standard information system is blocked by advertising offers such as an extended Mopar warranty. The banner can be closed by clicking on the corresponding part of the screen, but it appears at an inopportune moment, when the driver, stopped at an intersection, wants to look at something in his information system or clarify the navigation route. Unnecessary manipulations in such a situation only steal precious time for performing the desired actions.
Stellantis representatives confirmed that for Jeep vehicles such advertising offers are part of the contract with the SiriusXM digital broadcasting service. The user cannot refuse to view the ads on a permanent basis, and each time a banner appears, it must be closed manually. Some enthusiasts, who met this innovation with indignation, have already begun to look for ways to either modify the standard software of the on-board information system of their cars or install third-party software that could block such advertising banners. Stellantis only promised that it will try to reduce the frequency of such advertisements.
