Already in April of this year, Rapidus is going to launch an experimental line for the release of 2-nm chips in Japan. This was reported by the Japanese publication Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun with reference to the comments of the head of the company Atsuyoshi Koike. The mass production of 2-nm products Rapidus intends to deploy at its first enterprise, which so far continues to be built in 2027. It was Rapidus who received the first lithographic scanner in Japan to work with super -burned ultraviolet radiation (EUV), this happened last month.

When Rapidus puts into operation the second enterprise, it is not specified, but this will surely depend on the market success of the products produced first. Since June of this year, 2-nm samples of Rapidus chips should begin to receive the American company Broadcom. Taiwanese TSMC, which is the leader of the market, will begin production of 2-nm products in 2025, in further they will be intended by Apple, Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm. Samsung, even in the context of reducing the costs of a contract business, hopes to offer 2-nm chips services to NVIDIA and Qualcomm. Intel should establish the production of crystals for Panther Lake processors using 18A advanced technology in the second half of this year.
