It has become known which iPhones will not be able to update to iOS 19

In June, Apple is expected to announce the iOS 19 platform at WWDC25. Three smartphone models will not be able to update to it: iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, 9to5Mac has learned. All of these devices were released in September 2018.

This was reported by an anonymous social network account X, which regularly publishes accurate information about Apple software platforms. Last year, this source revealed information about the compatibility of iOS 18, which was later confirmed. If the insider is right this time, iOS 19 will be supported on the following Apple smartphones:

• IPhone 11, 11 Pro и 11 Pro Max;
• IPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro и 12 Pro Max;
• IPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro и 13 Pro Max;
• IPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max;
• IPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max;
• IPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max и 16e;
• IPhone SE second and third generations.

There are also changes coming to the tablet camp: iPadOS 19 will not be installed on the seventh-generation iPad, released in 2019 with the Apple A10 Fusion chip.

It is noteworthy that the iPhoneSoft resource, which previously published reliable insider information, reported in December that all iPhone models updated to iOS 18 will be able to work under iOS 19. However, this source has also been wrong: in 2021, it stated that iOS 15 would not be supported on the iPhone 6s and the first iPhone SE, but in reality, these devices received updates to iOS 15 and left the game only with the advent of iOS 16.

Even if the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max lose support for iOS 19, Apple will likely continue to pay attention to them: the company recently released iOS 16.7.11 with security updates for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.
