IPhone 16 and 16 Plus did not interest users – Apple cut production by 10 million units

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus smartphones have faced weak demand, causing Apple to cut orders for their assembly by 10 million units between now and the first half of next year, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a latest report. Chi Kuo).

The analyst already reported in a previous report that the demand for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus smartphones was weaker than for the previous iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models.

According to Kuo’s forecast, shipments of iPhone 16 series smartphones will amount to 80 million units in the fourth quarter of 2024. Previously, the analyst predicted iPhone 16 shipments of 88–89 million units, after which he lowered the forecast to 84 million units, although in the same quarter last year, shipments of the iPhone 15 series amounted to 90–91 million units. Production of the iPhone 16 series is expected to decline to 45 million units in Q1 2025 and to 39 million units in Q2.

Kuo also reiterated his pessimism that Apple Intelligence’s AI capabilities will boost demand for the iPhone 16 series. In addition, Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that production of the budget iPhone SE4 will begin in December this year, and Apple intends produce about 8.6 million units of the device between now and the first quarter of 2025.
