The new iOS 19 operating system (codenamed Luck), which Apple is expected to unveil in June at its annual WWDC developer conference, will not feature any major innovations but will instead focus more on expanding the existing capabilities of Apple’s AI system, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported.
«The bad news is that Apple is unlikely to unveil groundbreaking new AI features at the upcoming WWDC. Instead, it will likely outline plans to bring current capabilities to more apps,” Gurman said.
Considering that some of Apple’s promises to add new AI features to Siri, which lags significantly behind competitors’ chatbots, have remained unfulfilled in iOS 18, this makes sense, writes 9to5mac. Earlier this month, Gurman reported that Apple had encountered problems implementing Siri integration with AI-based algorithms, which casts doubt on the possibility of announcing an updated smart assistant at WWDC 2025. Apple also delayed the introduction of a more “talkative” Siri in iOS 19, instead postponing the release of the smart assistant to 2026 with the release of iOS 20.
Gurman also said that the new version of the visionOS 3.0 operating system for the Vision Pro mixed reality headset will receive many new features, but did not specify which ones exactly.
