Intel has unveiled its Xeon 6300 series of processors for entry-level servers. The new products are the successors to the Xeon E-2400 chips released in December 2023. According to Intel, the Xeon 6300 delivers up to 1.3 times higher performance than their predecessors.

It should be clarified that the Xeon 6300 and Xeon E-2400 are built on the same Raptor Lake crystals, so we are not talking about a completely new series of chips, but rather an update and rebranding of the Xeon E-2400.
The Xeon 6300 series includes eight processor models with four, six and eight cores, supporting eight to 16 virtual threads. The chips use only high-performance P-cores. The processors offer base frequencies from 2.7 GHz and maximum frequencies of up to 5.7 GHz. The four-core models received 12 MB of L3 cache, the six-core models have 18 MB of L3 cache, and the eight-core models have 24 MB of L3 cache. The nominal power consumption of the processors ranges from 55 W for the youngest models to 95 W for the older ones. The chips are made in a case for the LGA 1700 processor socket.
All Xeon 6300 processors support 128 GB of dual-channel DDR5-4800 (ECC) RAM, up to 15 USB 3.2 ports, and offer support for 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes and up to 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes. Intel also announced prices for the new processors, ranging from $199 to $545. For comparison, the Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel’s current flagship for consumer systems, is priced at $589.
It is expected that the main competitors of Intel’s new products will be AMD EPYC 4004 chips, which offer from four to 16 cores.
