Intel N100 + Raspberry Pi RP2040: Radxa introduced X4 single board computer

The Radxa company, according to the CNX-Software resource, has released a single-board computer Radxa X4, which is considered as an alternative to the Raspberry Pi 5. The device is made on the Intel Alder Lake-N hardware platform, and the OS can be Windows 10/11, Debian or Ubuntu Linux.

The new product has dimensions of 85×56×20 mm. An Intel Processor N100 chip (4C/4T; up to 3.4 GHz; 6 W) is used, working in tandem with a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller (two Cortex-M0+ cores), which is responsible for IO functions. The amount of LPDDR5 RAM can be 4 or 8 GB (in the future – 16 GB).

An M.2 M-Key 2230 connector is provided for SSDs with a PCIe 3.0 x4 (NVMe) interface. In addition, an eMMC flash module can be added. The equipment includes a 2.5GbE adapter with optional PoE support. The model with 4 GB of RAM is equipped with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 controllers, and the version with 8 GB of memory is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The set of connectors includes two micro-HDMI 2.0 interfaces with support for 4Kp60, a 3.5 mm audio jack, three USB 3.2 ports and a USB 2.0 port, a USB Type-C connector (power supply is possible) and an RJ-45 jack for a network cable. There is a 40-pin GPIO header supporting 2×SPI, 2×UART, 2×I2C, 16×PWM, 8×PIO (Programmable IO), 1×DC (5V). The connector for connecting the cooling fan is mentioned. Operating temperature range – from 0 to +60 °C.

The Radxa X4 with 4 GB of RAM costs approximately $60, and for the version with 8 GB of memory you will have to pay $20 more.
