Intel introduced more affordable desktop processors Core Ultra 200S

Intel has finally expanded the Core Ultra 200S (Arrow Lake-S) family of desktop processors with more affordable models that are not overclockable and have more modest frequencies. The announcement of new products took place at CES 2025, and Intel did not devote much time to them, devoting only a few lines in the press release.

The Core Ultra 200S family of desktop processors has so far been represented only by the Core Ultra 9 285K, Ultra 7 265K and 265KF, and Ultra 5 245K and 245KF models. But in a week, on January 13, cheaper models without the letter K in the name will go on sale, which have a locked multiplier and are characterized by a TDP reduced to 65 W. At the same time, cheaper motherboards based on the Intel B860 chipset will be released. In addition to 65-W chips, Intel will also release T-series models with a base power consumption level reduced to 35 W.

In the published press release, Intel did not even devote a separate page to the Core Ultra 200S processors, only mentioning that systems with the Core Ultra 200S will appear at the beginning of the first quarter, both as stand-alone products and in finished PCs. The press release also noted:

«Intel is also expanding the Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processor series with twelve new 65- and 35-watt models. These new processors, which have up to eight P-cores and 16 E-cores, will provide customers with an incredible combination of performance and energy efficiency in a desktop processor—for gaming, creative, or productivity applications.”

Intel also provided some performance data. The oldest processor introduced today, the Core Ultra 9 285, will offer up to two times higher performance in AI computer vision applications, up to 2.9 times higher integrated graphics performance, and overall multi-threaded performance promises to be 29% higher.

At the time of writing, Intel had not published a complete list of characteristics of the new Arrow Lake-S processors. Therefore, the characteristics below are based on the latest rumors and leaks, and later we will supplement the material with official data.
