Intel has officially begun offering 18A technology to its customers

Intel management has repeatedly stated that it will not delay providing its customers with access to Intel 18A technology for long after it masters the production of products for its own needs. Now, on its website, the company reports that it is ready to provide third-party customers with digital projects created using 18A technology in the current half of the year.

Those wishing to start cooperation with Intel in this area are invited to send an application to the e-mail address. Let us remind you that samples of our own Panther Lake processors, which are manufactured using Intel 18A technology, already exist, and their serial deliveries will begin in the next half of the year. In the server segment, Clearwater Forest processors will be presented next year, which will also be manufactured using Intel 18A technology.

In terms of transistor density, Intel’s 18A process is on par with TSMC’s N2, increasing performance per watt by 15% compared to its predecessor Intel 3, and the transistor density in this comparison is 30% higher for the newcomer. This is partly due to the PowerVia backplane power supply technology, which TSMC’s competitor has not yet mastered. Intel’s 18A process also uses an advanced RibbonFET transistor structure.

Intel’s 18A customers are expected to include not only defense customers like Boeing and Northrop Grumman, but also Swedish telecom giant Ericsson and the server divisions of Amazon (AWS) and Microsoft (Azure). It’s not yet clear whether Broadcom is ready to order Intel to produce chips based on 18A technology. In any case, even in the difficult conditions of a stalled restructuring, Intel is not abandoning its plans to offer its advanced technologies to customers.
