Intel has discontinued the weakest processor cooler Laminar RS1

Intel has discontinued the Laminar RS1 CPU cooler, which is often called the company’s “weakest” cooler. Obviously, it is not efficient enough to cool most modern desktop processors. Laminar RS1 was equipped with budget versions of Intel chips, such as Pentium and Celeron, which are also no longer commercially available.

The Laminar RS1 CPU cooler is equipped with a copper core to improve cooling efficiency. It was created as a budget alternative to the more expensive RM1 cooler that typically comes bundled with 65W Core i3 to Core i7 processors. If it weren’t for the blue backlight ring, the differences between the RS1 and RM1 would be harder to spot.

Intel’s plans for the next generation of Pentium and Celeron processors remain unclear. In addition, Core Ultra 3 processors periodically disappear from the company’s lists of future products. This may mean that Intel intends to stop focusing on developing budget coolers.

Intel has officially confirmed that the Laminar RS1 cooler will be discontinued on December 27, 2024. It is noteworthy that the RM1 cooler continues to be produced. It comes bundled with 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Core processors and will likely remain part of bundles for future Intel processors.
