Intel has officially announced a $100 price cut on its Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 7 265KF processors, making them significantly more competitive. This puts them below the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, which only has eight cores compared to Intel’s 20.

By lowering prices, Intel aims to boost sales of the chips, which have fallen short of expectations. AMD processors currently dominate the DIY PC market, especially in the gaming segment. One of the most popular models in this segment is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. However, the Intel Core Ultra 200 series processors are capable of competing in work (non-gaming) tasks, mainly due to the larger number of cores.
The retail price of the Core Ultra 7 265K is now $299 (was $399). The Core Ultra 7 265KF is now $284 (was $384). The Ryzen 7 9700X, by comparison, has a retail price of $359, but can be purchased for around $300 in the US.
Along with the price cut, Intel has started offering two games as a gift with the purchase of Core Ultra 200 processors: Dying Light: The Beast and Civilization VII.
