Intel Comes Up With Warranty-Free Overclocking: Core 200S Boost Will Safely Speed Up Arrow Lake PCs, But Not All

Intel has introduced the Core 200S Boost feature. It is designed for the Arrow Lake-S platform, works only on motherboards with the Z890 chipset, and is essentially a ready-made overclocking profile for Core Ultra 200S processors and RAM modules with support for XMP profiles.

The Core 200S Boost feature will be available via a motherboard BIOS update. At the moment, the list of motherboard manufacturers, motherboard models, and DDR5 RAM modules that support Core 200S Boost is quite modest. But it will obviously expand over time. Currently, it includes several motherboard models from ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, Colorful, Maxsun, and MSI. For these motherboards, manufacturers have already released BIOS updates that provide the motherboards with Core 200S Boost support.

With the Core 200S Boost feature, RAM modules can be overclocked to 8000 MT/s. The feature also increases the frequency of the die-to-die bus inside the processors from 2.1 to 3.2 GHz, as well as the frequency of the uncore fabric (SoC tile/NGU) to 3.2 GHz. At the same time, certain voltage restrictions apply to all of these parameters. For example, for RAM, they must not exceed 1.4 V. As soon as one of the parameters is changed, the Core 200S Boost overclocking profile is deactivated. The applied Core 200S Boost settings can be seen in the table below.

The main feature of Core 200S Boost is that using the function does not void the user’s warranty for the processor. In fact, we are talking about safe overclocking profiles from Intel itself.
