In the browser of Microsoft Edge, II-Provice from scammers appeared-the system monitors what is happening on the screen

This week, Microsoft added a new tool for protecting from scammers called Scareware Blocker to her company browser, which uses computer vision and machine learning to ensure user safety. The algorithm is designed to combat the so-called strap programs that encourage users to download malicious software under the pretext of combating viruses.

The use of artificial intelligence technologies allows Scareware Blocker to effectively identify not only already known types of fraud, but also determine new ones based on characteristic features. After detecting signs of fraud, he blocks the window that opens throughout the screen, which, as planned by scammers, should push the victim to download malicious software.

«Scareware Blocker uses a machine learning model that is launched on a local computer. This model uses computer vision to compare full -screen pages with thousands of examples of fraud, which the community shared with us. The model works locally, without saving or sending images to the cloud, ”Microsoft said in a message.

As soon as fraud is found, the browser will automatically get out of the full-screen mode, stop playing video or audio messages, and will also warn the user about danger. After that, the user can continue to interact with Edge, as well as add a fraudulent site to be a scareWare Blocker database.

According to reports, a new user protection tool from scammers is available in the latest stable version of Edge. By default, it is disabled, so users will have to independently activate the corresponding option in the application settings.
