In Google Messages you will be able to choose the quality of the images you send

The Google Messages app will soon have a feature that WhatsApp has had for some time. We are talking about the ability to select the quality of transmitted images before sending them.

Users of the WhatsApp messenger have probably seen the HD icon with a small gear, which is located in the lower right corner when sending messages. This option allows you to choose Standard or HD quality when sending photos and other images. Selecting Standard reduces image quality, but delivers images faster and takes up less space. If you select HD quality, the image is transmitted with virtually no compression, but sending it takes longer and the file itself takes up more space.

Apparently, Google appreciated this feature, since the company intends to implement its analogue in its Messages application. At this stage, the HD and HD+ icons appeared in one of the latest beta versions of the Google Messages application, and you can interact with them when adding images to a message. Thus, when choosing the HD option, the picture is optimized by reducing its quality. If you select the HD+ option, the image will be transmitted in its original state.

Obviously, work on the new feature is ongoing, but its appearance in the beta version of the application may indicate that this process is in its final stages. It is not yet known when the ability to select the quality of transmitted images may appear in stable versions of the Google Messages application.
