In China, Tesla will recall more than 1.2 million electric vehicles whose on-board computers may fail

The problem with the systems of the on -board computers of electric vehicles Tesla led to a not very large -scale review of products in the United States, but Chinese regulators have already pushed the company to appropriate actions. In the local market, it will withdraw more than 1.2 million electric vehicles of four models to either prevent the manifestation of problem with on -board computers, or to correct its consequences.

As usual, a recall in most cases will mean that the car owner will simply need to agree to install updated software that is distributed “over the air.” With its help, Tesla will try to prevent the on-board computer from failing when the rear view camera is turned on shortly after starting the electric vehicle. The situation arises quite often if the driver needs to drive the electric vehicle in reverse to leave a parking space. A malfunction of the on-board computer leads to loss of image from the rear view camera, and this is a condition in which the operation of the vehicle is unsafe.

At the same time, it turns out on which cars such a malfunction can manifest itself. The campaign is attended by Model S and Model X electric cars, as well as Model 3 and Model Y, the local assembly, released from July 16, 2023 to December 14, 2024. In other words, the likely defect in the on -board computer is present in many Tesla cars, released over the previous one and a half years in both China and the United States. In the case when the software update is already used late, Tesla will replace the on -board computer with a working one at its own account.

Along the way, Tesla will update the software of Chinese-made Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles manufactured between January 3, 2022 and September 23, 2023, as they may have a problem with the operation of the electric power steering, affecting the accuracy of control in automatic mode. This recall will affect 871,087 Chinese-assembled electric vehicles.
