Earlier this month, sales of the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro game console began. Now iFixit specialists have published a video disassembling the new product, noting small but quite important changes that will simplify the maintenance of the gaming console.
In terms of repairability, the PlayStation 5 Pro is not much different from the previously released PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Slim. However, the developers have made one significant change: the new console makes it much easier to reach the CMOS battery. On PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Slim, replacing the CMOS battery requires a lot of effort because it is located under the motherboard. On the PlayStation 5 Pro, the CMOS battery is located under the bezel and is installed in a holder that is not soldered to the motherboard. Due to this, the process of replacing the battery will not be a big problem.
IFixit also noted this improvement, recalling that other current-generation Sony consoles “have to take almost everything apart to replace” the CMOS battery. Otherwise, the layout inside the PlayStation 5 Pro case is largely the same as what can be seen in the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Slim. We also note that the cooler of the console cooling system is easily removable, so cleaning it from dust will not be difficult.
