If you leave the Nintendo Wii U console for a long time, it will never turn on again

The Nintendo Wii U game console has been found to have a defect that can occur in any of the remaining copies of the device. And this is not the best news, because the Japanese manufacturer has stopped supporting the model and refuses to repair it. To prevent defects from appearing, it is not recommended to leave the console disconnected for a long time.

If the set-top box is left without power for too long, there is a risk of damage to the built-in flash drive. When this happens, the Nintendo Wii U will display a system memory failure message and display an error code – most commonly code 160-0103, although in some cases others will be shown, such as 160-2155. All of these errors point to one problem: the built-in drive is damaged.

The problem is related to the NAND memory that Nintendo decided to use in the Wii U. At different times, the company used different suppliers, including those who shipped products of questionable quality. The Japanese manufacturer apparently decided on such a measure and wanted to save money when the Wii U was unable to show sales at the level of its predecessor. The first batch of consoles, according to some information, have fewer problems.

The only way to fix the situation is to open the device and replace the memory chips, but this requires technical training. Console modder Voultar has even released a kit for rebuilding the Wii U drive, but working with it will also require some skill. The incident is not the most pleasant, because after the release of the Nintendo Switch, fans of the brand put the old Wii U on the shelf, and thereby doomed them to failure. Relatively few copies of the Wii U were released due to poor sales. But there is a chance that the majority will be saved.
